I would like to inform you about a small app that increases and secures internet speed, especially for external sites. You will be able to access web sites overseas as fast as a local site. The application is called FreeGate.

Create a good website

Do you want to build a quality site? Have you faced the problem of configuring the local server? I'll talk about the best free products on the market : Apache, PHP and MySql. If you are a novice, you will have troubles making these 3 programs work together. That is why a recommend to use a program that encapsulates all these : XAMPP. This is an Apache distribution containing MySQL, PHP and Perl, very easy to install and use.
It provides a Control Panel, that comes in very handy in managing Apache and MySQL.
All you have to do is to download, extract and start using XAMPP. Now that you have a local server, you can start working.
Run Internet Explorer (or other web browser) and write http://localhost. This way you can see if your apache server is properly installed. Your site files must be located in C://xampp/htdocs.
Of course, you also need a good editor for writing the code for your website. I recommend, from the free editors, Notepad++. This is, in my opinion, the best free text editor at this moment.
If you wish more details on how to start building a site, please don't hesitate to write me your questions. I will answer you as fast as I can

Mounting CD/DVD images

If you like playing games, then, at least once until now, you must have faced the problem of mounting the image of a game(mostly .iso, .nrg, .cue, .bin and so on). If you use Nero, you must know that Nero Image Drive mounts .iso and .nrg.
But the fastest program for mounting images is Daemon Tools. It supports most of the image types, and it works very good. This version also has a great advantage: it's free.
Enjoy playing...

Games...old became new and...better

A few days ago i came across Mario Forever. I almost forgot the taste of this lovable small game....but after a few minutes all the passion came back. What a great game, brought back by this remake of the famous game in my younger days...

Play sound and video

Have you ever encountered problems trying to play a movie? Or making a list of favorite songs? For example, instead of using only Windows Media Player, maybe you should go for two different programs.
For example, I use BS Player to watch movies and videos, and Winamp when I listen to music or radio. Both these programs are faster and more intuitive than the classic Media Player.
Of course, you should also have some good and comprehensive codecs. I use K-Lite Codec Pack. It is very good(it also works for Windows Media Player).

Improve visual appearence

Have you ever been displeased with the way Windows XP looks? Here are a few possibilities to improve the visual appearence and to make Win XP look more appealing.
Vista Transformation Pack - this program will transform your Windows user interface to ultimate Windows Vista alike looks that everyone will never notice it's the same old Windows XP
VistaMizer - It does not provide own files and change your system files. That has the advantage that VistaMizer works with each language and no changes of the language specifics are made.
Style XP - It is not a skinning engine. It uses Microsoft's built-in visual style engine, but enhances it by providing many useful tools. Style XP can import, select, rotate, and manage themes, visual styles, wallpapers, logons, bootscreens, icons, and explorer bar. Style XP includes its own visual styles.

Above, I've written part of the publisher's description. I leave it to you to decide if it matches the real thing or if it could be classified as rubbish :).
The Vista Transformation Pack and VistaMizer have the advantage of being free programs. Instead, Style XP, in my opinion, looks the best and acts like it. It's up to you to decide which one it's better for yourselves

The advantage of using RevConnect over the normal DC++

RevConnect is a file sharing program based on DC++.
Download one file from multiple users at the same time without corruption! This can vastly improve your download speeds. Every download chunk is combinable and dividable and has elastic size decided by download speed.

Does anyone use it? I've been using RevConnect for the past 2 years and I am thrilled with it. It'a a major improvement of the normal DC++, since I download from more than 1 user at the same time (sometimes I download from over 100 users) and the speed is incredible

Which software do you think is a "must have" for PC?

Let's find out what software is necessary for our computers. I would start with an antivirus and continue with something to clean up the registry structure and the hard drive.

For example:
Kaspersky Antivirus
Protect your PC with an expert antivirus solution specially created for home use.
Norton AntiVirus Professional 2008
The world's most trusted antivirus solution with advanced protection.
TuneUp Utilities
TuneUp Utilities optimizes the performance of your computer.
